The 30-year-old de Villiers hit hard all bowlers and became the biggest hurdle in the way West Indian’s victory, scored 149 on 44 balls with the help of 16-sixes as well 9 four-runs.
If we take a view on history of one day cricket, 24-year-old left-handed New Zealander batsman all-rounder Corey Anderson also smashed the West Indian, 2014 in Queenstown and removed the name of Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi on top. Anderson had created history 131 off 47 balls but unfortunately de Villiers named the fastest century scorer achievement.
He said after creating record, “I was on 92 when I realized it was going to be close. I wasn’t going to take singles in the nineties. I got really fired up in the changing room and sort of played my knock before I even came out to bat. Aggression was the main thing for me today – I just wanted to go right from the start.”
Anderson who going to against forth game in on tomorrow 7 ODI Series at Saxon Field, said while praising de Villiers new achievement, “Records are there to be broken and congratulations to AB, it was obviously a hell of an innings. To get 149 off 44 is probably even more special. You’re in the zone I guess and you feel like every ball’s probably going to go to the boundary, and when you mis-hit it, it sort of misses a fielder and it tends to go for four. It’s one of those days where it all comes off.”
In the history of cricket, South African had created the history of highest scoring 439-2 while defeating Australia who made 438-9.
